Commercial Release of ASI Handheld
Promises to Revolutionize Restaurant Industry

Chicago, IL (May 18, 2002):  From the floor of the National Restaurant Association show, ASI (Action Systems, Inc.) announces the commercial release of the ASI Handheld, a patent-pending wireless handheld POS System that promises to revolutionize order taking in full service restaurants.  After twelve months in development and six months in beta testing, the ASI Handheld is ready for installation in full service restaurants all across the country.

The ASI Handheld relies on handwriting recognition to create a simple POS System that works just like a pencil & pad.  Waiters use the ASI Handheld to quickly write down orders, then instantly send the order to the kitchen right from tableside.  Managers can use the ASI Handheld to do anything from printing checks for waiting customers to viewing the status of all open orders.  Managers can also use the ASI Handheld to view real-time sales reports or receive alerts when employees near overtime, etc.

Ray Morrison, owner of The Royal Mile Pub, in Wheaton, Maryland happily reports that the ASI Handheld has made a noticeable impact on his bottom line.  “Within a month of installing the ASI Handheld my revenues were up over 12%, due mostly to faster table turns.  The ASI Handheld has also allowed me to cut my staffing requirements and labor costs.  When servers are freed up to spend more time on the restaurant floor they can easily handle larger stations.  In other words, I can’t afford NOT to use this system.”

Spiro Goldiassis, manager at Mrs. K’s Tollhouse Restaurant, in Silver Spring, Maryland explains “No other POS System enhances customer service like the ASI Handheld.  My servers rely on it to keep track of daily specials and answer questions about ingredients and recipes.  I use it to comp items for special guests or check the names of the VIPs seated at table 10.  It’s really an incredible help to have the ASI Handheld in my pocket.”

ASI has always set itself apart from the competition with an emphasis on user-friendly design and system stability.  The company’s approach to a handheld interface continues in this tradition.

Founded in 1988, ASI specializes in Point of Sale (POS) and Management software for the foodservice industry. ASI offers its software products through a network of 200+ Value Added Resellers (VARs) across the continental US, Canada, Europe and Asia.
